Nemesis: The Goddess of Revenge

THE WINNING COLLECTION has built some fantastic cars. Ask any of the current stable of builders and they will tell you this is their favorite. Why not? A custom 1959 Corvette with old school looks covering the modern beast inside.

This is an original bodied 1959 Corvette. Although it would have been easier to alter the body of this car, the team at THE WINNING COLLECTION was determined to keep this classic in its original shape. Countless hours of sanding, molding and fiberglass work has been done to maintain the body’s original classic lines. The trunk area, fender wells and tunnel all have added fiberglass reinforcement. Steel plates were built into the floor for added strength and safety.

The exterior of this car really shines. The colors used are Flint Grey Metallic and Alabaster White. The paint process spanned a period of 6 months but was worth the time. Incorporated into the body work from the beginning, the fit of this car’s trim is better than new. Numerous hours of polishing has created an extra sparkle and shine.

The engine bay is as beautiful as the exterior of the car. The Alabaster White plenum is bordered by carbon fiber valve covers which match the 8 MSD coils. Polished aluminum abounds. It was used for the custom built DEWITT radiator and condenser as well as the air conditioning compressor, alternator, starter, power steering pump and all pulleys, covers and reservoirs. We also used custom bent and beaded aluminum aircraft tubing for the radiator hoses. The master cylinder is a polished WILWOOD high volume tandem master cylinder. Braided stainless steel hoses and stainless fittings were used throughout the engine compartment as well as throughout the car.

The interior is no less spectacular. The red leather interior, including seats, one off dash, door and kick panels, grab bar, emergency brake and shifter boots and console lend a luxurious feel. Electric windows have been installed for added comfort. Fully laid matching red carpet, 6 modern gauges which includes a 160 MPH speedometer and rosewood steering wheel round out the interior.

We need to discuss the beast inside. The foundation is a tube frame chassis with a C4 suspension. The chassis has been painted with black Imron paint creating a stunning contrast alongside the silver powder coating of the suspension parts. The car is fitted with a road race designed adjustable front sway bar and has independent rear suspension with reinforced rear axles for added stability. QA1 coilover shocks round out the suspension.

This beast is powered by a factory new KATECH 600 HP 570 ft lbs. torque Z06 crate engine with 11:1 compression forged pistons, Torquer LS7 camshaft and valve train enhancements. The engine combined with a brand new RPM T56 6 speed transmission make this car a pleasure to drive.

The 355mm WILWOOD slotted rotors and superlite calipers with 6 front and 4 rear pistons have no problem stopping this 3000 pound car. The brake hoses are braided stainless steel and the stainless steel brake and fuel lines will last a lifetime.

The custom built stainless steel fuel tank has an in tank WALBRO fuel pump. The Dana-36 3.73 rear gear makes sure the power from the engine connects to the road. We wanted the custom built one off 3-inch stainless exhaust to exit the car through the original exhaust. After numerous redesigns we were successful and it was well worth the effort.

The wiring in the car has all been upgraded. The sockets and connectors in the firewall are all aircraft grade with the actual wire being marine grade. All connections were soldered rather than crimped. This wiring job was tedious but was done to last a lifetime. Just one more example of what makes a WINNING COLLECTION car a prized collectors addition.

The attention to detail is carried through each and every aspect of this machine. The MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires mounted on HRE custom built wheels start the car rolling. The 245/40/ZR/18 tires on the front and the 265/40/ZR/18′s on the rear fill the wheel wells but allows the body’s beautiful styling to remain intact. The front tires are mounted on 8/5-inch wheels with the rear tires being mounted on 9-inch wheels.

Teflon coating was used on latches in the hood and trunk as well as on the door striker and latches. The rear emblem is still used but has been altered to be used as a 3rd brake light.

To round out the driving experience, the car has an Alpine sound system that includes a CD player, amplifier, a 10inch woofer mounted in the trunk as well as 2 5-inch speakers mounted in the kick panels. Two additional speakers and 2 tweeters are mounted in the convertible top storage area.
